Website Design Process

Plan and Research

Schedule a free web design consultation appointment (zoom, phone or socially-distanced in person).

  • During the consultation we work together to determine what your specific website needs are to help your business, whether it is as a sales tool, lead influencer, and/or branding.
  • Before the proposal is sent your task is to review and collect passwords and logins for hosting, email and domain (sometimes a different company could be handling each one – ie: GoDaddy, Google, and Namecheap.)
  • If you do not have the logins listed above there is an additional charge for handling the collection of this information. Time for this is NOT included in the time to build your website, unless otherwise specified. 
  • Once the proposal is accepted, I go to work planning, researching your competitors, reviewing content needs, navigation and style changes and setting the stage for the website design.

Design & Build

  • The home page design determines the look and feel for the entire site. Before any further design work is done, the home page must be approved. While Zech Design is creating, your task is to assist with content curation.
  • Using a feedback software tool located on your staging site, all further communication for changes and content is handled through this one hub, keeping mistakes and confusion at a minimum.

Content Curation and Copywriting

  • Depending on if the site is brand new, a redesign or a rebuild, this can affect how much content you have available or how much writing you might need done for the site to be effective.
  • Zech Design provides “light” content curation and copywriting to fill the need for some page content or provided content that needs to be “fluffed up”. Writing content for your website, including services, privacy policy, etc, as well as industry information to supplement, are not included unless otherwise specified.

Optimize and Review

  • As each page is built and approved, the research done at the beginning is referenced. This way we maintain a solid SEO foundation.
  • Speed and optimization for all devices are reviewed at each step and factor into the overall design and function of the site.
  • Google Analytics are installed, forms are tested and the site is checked for errors.

Launch and Test

  • The staging site is pushed Live, DNS is pointed, and the new site up- YEAH!.
  • Speed and optimization for all devices are reviewed and adjusted.
  • Google Analytics are checked, forms are tested, redirects set, and the website is checked for errors again.

Post-Launch and Site Management

  • Once the site is live and tested, Zech Design monitors and reviews for 30 days and will make small edits.
  • A Website Owners Manual or hand-off document is emailed with all necessary website logins and passwords, licenses, etc. Zech Design retains a copy of this on just in case you lose this document.
  • At this time it is recommended you review options to keeping your website updated and secure. If you plan to manage and upkeep the site, I ask that you sign-off any liability to Zech Design for malware, hacking, or coding conflicts.
